Summer’s going by too fast

Hey all! I can’t believe we’re nearing the end of July already. That means only about a month of summer vacation left before I have to go back to school :(( NOOOOOOOOOO! Too soon if you ask me. And I feel like I didn’t even get anything accomplished this summer, except for working out :) Oh well…gotta make the most of every day.

I have not been as active on here lately because we’re in the process of moving & I’m already stressed out doing some school-related stuff already too! Also, I joined Sparkpeople! I know a lot of you on here are on SP as well. It’s SOOO LOADED with information! It’s overwhelming, so I’m still trying to navigate my way around there. If any of you are on there, add me as a buddy! My profile is:  Ess-Jay

when down, turn to exercise!

hey buddies. Seems like everything is going wrong in my life right now. (Thankfully) the only thing that’s going great is my new lifestyle change. I love that fact that now, whenever I’m feeling depressed or down, I can just turn to exercise. It takes my mind off everything else because I’m focusing on whatever I’m doing. Also, I feel better afterwards. I am so proud of myself for committing to this new lifestyle change for the first time in my life. I see the results and feel the benefits. In so many ways it has made me a happier person. I hope you are all experiencing the positive results of exercise as well!

this week & goals

This has not been the best week in terms of my exercise regime. Haven’t gone as much as I should…I only went for like an hour today to the gym. Gonna watch my eating so compensate for that. Plus, yesterday I took a day off from exercising so tomorrow I am really going to work out hard at the gym!   I’m trying really hard to reach my goal weight of 105.  Some people may think that 105 is too small, but I’m only ALMOST 5′3″…so 105 still puts me in the normal BMI range.  I hope to reach 110 lbs by late August when I see my family again!

what’s been working for me…

Hey! Guess what? I’ve been doing pretty good on the goals that I set for myself a few blogs ago.  I’ve been OK with the low sodium thing…still sneak in a few salty chips now & then. But the thing that’s REALLY been working wonders for me & helping me lose weight & feel great is not eating after 9pm! Now don’t get me wrong, sometimes I still have a little something after 9 if I’m really starving, but I try to keep it lite & healthy.  I never knew how much it would help, but I’ve lost 2 lbs doing this for just one week!

in pain!

I’m annoyed! Went to the gym this morning looking forward to a great workout, but the second I got there I got a major attack of painful cramps! It’s my time of the month (too much info, I know), but I haven’t had cramps this bad for a while.  The cramps were so bad, I had to cut my workout short & leave early. Only got 30 mins of low-level exercise in today.  Gonna rest it out & hope the cramps go away by tomorrow.

Buddies, please help!

It’s getting closer & closer to the move-in date to our new place….that means I’ll be able to get a treadmill soon!! Problem is, I have a budget on the treadmill, since we’re a little tight on $$ right now.  The MAX I can spend is $400 for a treadmill. I’ve been doing some research & I know $400 will not buy me a great treadmill.  And I know that if I want to get a great, quality treadmill I will have to spend over $1,500, but I don’t have that kind of money now.  So I’m asking for your help: Have any of you bought or used decent treadmills that cost under $400? Also, any advice on where I can get good treadmills?

 Thanks buddies!

re-evaluation & new goals

Hey buddies. I have been exercising consistently, but have REALLLLy fallen off the wagon in terms of my diet. Like yesterday, I ate tons of white noodles with curry & binged on other greasy food all day! I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I literally just went out of control eating everything in sight!  I’m back up about 2 lbs to 120lbs now :(.  I have decided that in order to reach my goal weight & to stop sabatoging my workout efforts, I need to create new small goals in terms of my diet.

First goal is to STOP EATING AFTER 9PM!  I ususally sleep between 11pm-midnight, so I would say 9pm is a reasonable cutoff time for me.

Second goal is to STOP EATING GREASY/DEEP FRIED FOOD!  Yes, that means absolutely no more deep fried food and no more food cooked in a lot of oil, with only olive oil being the exception.  That means no more stir-fry when the roommates make it with a lot of vegetable oil! I just have to modify & make my own stir-fries with a little olive oil or no oil at all!  When I first started really watching my diet a few months ago, I cooked stir-fry with just a little water & used no oil at all, and it still tasted great! Perhaps I should start doing that again.

Third & last goal is to watch my sodium intake! That means CUT OUT SUPER-SALTY FOOD like chips! I’ll admit that I’ve been eating lots of Tostitos chips latley, but no more of that!

ohhh holidays!

I’m back from the weekend getaway with my family. It was soooo nice to see (almost!) everyone again.  The weekend did DAMAGE to my diet though! But it was sooo worth it! We went to a buffet yesterday & I had vanilla ice-cream with the works! mmmm haven’t had that in a long time! Also had steak, CORN (my fav.), spaghetti, yummy bread…lots of delicious stuff! I hit the gym this morning for about 1 1/2 hrs…all in all, I did not make the best decisions food-wise this weekend & I may have gone a little overboard, but for once I’m not going to totally beat myself up over it because I enjoyed it with my wonderful family!

My husband INSISTED that we drink & play card games last night. I had too much alcohol! lol. That, combined with tons of bad heating habits yesterday=a little over 1 lb gained today! The good news was that I went to the gym this morning for about an hour, then took a 30 minute walk.  I’ll be back on track when I come back from the weekend. Until then, I’m going to try to be good this weekend when I’m with my family! Happy 4th of July everyone & stay safe!!
